Who said that coloring books are only for children? Actually in the
last few years coloring books for adults have become more and more
popular. You don't even have to buy such a book to enjoy coloring. There
are lots of free websites and Pinterest boards where you can find all
sort of pictures (realistic ones, abstract shapes, mandalas en zentagle
designs).
Let me tell you about the book that I bought just before Christmas (10,95 euros).
This is one of the pretties pages. I like the paisley pattern but I
can't draw it myself. Thanks to this book I can enjoy it without having
drawing skills at all.
As you can see it contains also some floral patterns. Other books even let you color paintings by Monet or Van Gogh, there are books filled only with butterflies or pictures from Paris, you name it.
I started with this supermarket brand on the right. Well, you
couldn't tell judging just on the packaging that these are not so great. The point was very hard and the pigmentation was so poor that I
really had to press hard to see any result. Not a great success ... So I
put the book aside wondering what the big fuzz with coloring books was
all about.
But last week I found this Staedler set (on the left) in
a discount store. Well, actually I wanted as many
colors as possible (36 at least), but they only had 12 for 2,99 euros. And
this really made a difference! They are really softer (like the pencils I remember from school) and the colors are more vivid. But if you know some good brand that I could try out, just let me know in the comments below.
Now I can also say that these books
are really fun. And hopefully help fight stress as well (must try it
after a stressful day). So try for yourself and who knows maybe you'll
also become addicted to it ;)
